Working as part of a team including Business development (BD) and software support specialists, this role will combine your engineering knowledge, simulation software skills and business acumen to help sustain and grow KBC’s software business globally.

This role is expected to be 50% on technical support to sales team and 50% on project delivery and software support to existing clients. You will be required to work as part of a team - across the globe and remotely and be willing to travel as and when required approximately 50% of the time.

KBC’s current client base in region is predominantly refinery/petrochemicals based, and a knowledge of these industries and their technologies is required. KBC’s Visual Mesa (VM) package is the software focus for this market sector. The post will require you to be confident in using VMs simulation software to the level at which you are able to provide effective first line technical sales support. Training will be provided, and you will be expected to work closely with software specialists in KBC’s global software support and development teams.

In order to grow KBC’s business, you will need a willingness to learn about the rest of KBC’s current and future software portfolio and gain an appreciation for how software and emerging technologies such as digitalization can be used as an enabler for the wider KBC business to provide optimum solutions for our clients.

Due to the widespread geographical location of KBC development, support and Business Development staff, it is essential that you have a flexible attitude to support team members as and when the need arises and to liaise effectively with colleagues globally.

Responsibilities:

Client Relationship Management: Contribute to the management of partnering relationships with clients, maintain a high level of customer engagement, satisfaction, and prompt resolution of issues as it arises. I.e. Co-ordination with the sales team, proactively engage with KBC’s software clients within region, with a view to sustaining and growing KBC’s software business.

Technical Sales and Marketing Support: Work closely with the Sales teams to identify and develop new opportunities for KBC’s software business. Work closely with the Product Management team to get aligned on the product roadmap and strategy. Participate in the planning and execution of sales strategy. Raise the profile of KBC’s software regionally both within KBC/Yokogawa and externally, participate in marketing events, conferences and organizing training/information sessions where appropriate. Perform Preliminary benefit analysis, feasibility study and coordinate development of proof-of-concept models for new opportunities. Conduct demonstrations of the software and answer technical questions as part of the sales process. Lead and monitor software trials with potential customers. Provide input to the scope and technical product information in technical proposal development and manhour estimation. Support Wider Yokogawa group in the region as a SME in workshops that promotes Visual MESA solutions.

Process Design Engineering: Contribute to the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters.

Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.

Engineering Standards Specification: Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.

Contract Management: Deliver required outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers while working within an established contract management plan.

Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.

Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response: Gather information and resources, draft and complete proposals, and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract.

Knowledge Management System: Help others get the most out of knowledge management systems by offering support and advice.

Product and Solution Development: Carry out a range of product development and engineering activities. Use established systems to analyze customer needs and define and deliver products.

Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals. I.e. Work as part of global implementation and support team to participate in Visual MESA implementation project in APAC and other regions as required. Provide post-implementation MSU and Sustainability Services to the active clients in the APAC Region.

Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Training Delivery: Provide product training to relevant KBC and Yokogawa team.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree/ Master’s in chemical/ Process Engineering is required or Equivalent Level.

General Experience:

Experience enables job holder to deal with the majority of situations and to advise others.

Knowledge of refinery/petrochemicals industry and processes.

Knowledge of up/mid-stream and other industry sectors such as chemicals, fertilizer and related industries is an advantage.

Proven capability in process simulation as an end user and/or a software vendor. Detailed knowledge of Visual Mesa is an advantage.

Technical sales experience would be an advantage.
