In support of a new offshore facility in the North Sea, KBC was appointed by a major oil company to develop a training management system and supporting process-specific training materials.
A new offshore facility was being developed and needed training materials and development. No site visits were possible as the offshore platform was still in construction. All training materials had to be developed from vendor manuals and from piping and instrument drawings.
A training management guide was developed to define training policies, training requirements, qualification guidelines and training pathways.
A Process Overview (POV) manual provided a detailed overview of the new facility, including major process equipment, health and safety hazards and emergency response policies.
Process Systems Training (PST) manuals provided detailed descriptions of the operation of major process systems (8 manuals in total) and a Process Control Training (PCT) manual providing detailed description of the process control systems. Self-discovery exercises were developed to support POV, PST and PCT training materials. Situational exercises were created for 10 critical abnormal situations.
The customer was completely satisfied with the materials produced and platform commissioned successfully.
