KBC (A Yokogawa Company) has been awarded the 2025 LARTC Award for Digital Technology Provider of the Year for its Visual MESA® Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management (VM-GEM) software. The Latin American Refining Technology Conference (LARTC) Awards of Excellence program recognizes outstanding achievements across the region’s downstream industry, celebrating the refineries, engineers, and technologies driving its progress. This award honors KBC’s digital innovation and measurable impact in helping a Latin American refiner reduce energy intensity and achieve decarbonization goals.
As refiners face tightening environmental regulations and emerging carbon-pricing frameworks, VM-GEM provides the intelligence needed to quantify and control greenhouse-gas emissions with confidence. TÜV Rheinland-certified and compliant with ISO standards, the solution continuously calculates and tracks Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions—including CO₂, CO, NOₓ, SO₂, particulates, and VOCs—across complex energy systems while streamlining compliance reporting and ESG disclosures.
Results achieved from a VM-GEM software deployment include:
“Visual MESA GEM turns what used to be a static emissions report into a living system that operators can act on in real time,” said Dr. Carlos Ruiz, Visual MESA Project Champion at KBC. “By bringing together fuel data, combustion performance, and emissions behavior, it gives refiners the insight to make informed decisions and build sustainability into day-to-day operations.”
Part of the Visual MESA Energy Management System, VM-GEM integrates seamlessly within KBC’s digital ecosystem and consulting expertise, combining advanced software with deep domain knowledge to deliver scalable decarbonization.
This award reinforces KBC’s commitment to Bringing Decarbonization to Life® through digitalization, automation, and advanced analytics that improves energy efficiency and emissions performance across the global refining industry.
