A South African refinery wanted to reduce its energy costs and emissions and needed a way to identify energy saving opportunities and sustain improvemenets throughout the site.
Working with KBC, the refinery deployed a tailored Digital Energy Management System (DEMS) covering utility systems, process units and site-wide monitoring. Real-time energy metrics, drill-down dashboards and operator-level actions gave the team visibility and control over energy consumption.
With DEMS fully operational, the refinery achieved energy savings of 12% of the total site energy bill — four times the initial estimate. DEMS enables the refinery to realize and sustain savings allowing for reinvestment in energy metering and control systems.
