As an intern your work will involve consultancy type tasks, carrying out energy optimization projects and assisting in the development of tools to help in these projects. You may be required to visit customer sites or work in our other offices. Although the work involved will mainly focus on energy projects, there may also be the opportunity to work in any of KBC’s other businesses when the need and requirement arise.
Typical student placement projects
During your placement at KBC you will complete individual tasks supporting larger projects, receive training in KBC’s suite of energy simulation and synthesis tools and gain experience of different areas of oil and gas processing focusing on oil extraction and refining.
You will interact with a wide-range of experienced oil and gas engineers from different disciplines and backgrounds, often working with engineers based outside the UK. During your placement your tasks will include simulation, operating data analysis and optimization of a customer’s operation or proposed changes to operation. Tasks will typically be completed using Petro-SIM, our leading process simulation and optimization platform, and Excel providing you with a chance to apply the problem-solving, design and engineering skills learnt during your design project to a real-life situation.
