The Challenge

Our refinery client needed expert guidance to optimize energy efficiency across its three established refinery complexes. They sought to identify high-impact projects that would lead to cost-savings. However, limited visibility into energy gaps and intricate utility interactions restricted their strategic investment decisions.

The Solution

KBC conducted a Strategic Energy Review using Best Technology assessments and Pinch Analysis to uncover efficiency opportunities. Simulations of utility systems clarified steam, power, and fuel interactions. This effort led to a prioritized shortlist of impactful energy-saving projects.

The Results

KBC’s structured roadmap approach delivered substantial energy and cost savings. The client was provided with three structured project plans that showed pathways to achieve fuel savings of up to 215 Gcal/h (853 MMBTU/h) and reduced emissions by 440 kteCOâ‚‚/year. These data-driven recommendations enabled strategic investments in sustainable improvements that aligned with their decarbonization goals.
