Main Aspects of Job:

As a Senior Engineer within the Software Support, Training and Implementation, you will combine your KBC engineering knowledge and troubleshooting skills to provide technical expertise in business development activities with potential customers and to assist clients and internal users in the use of KBC’s simulation software suite of products: 

  • Petro-SIM Production, KBC’s steady state and dynamic process simulator

  • Multiflash flow assurance software provides PVT fluid characterization, hydrate prediction, hydrate inhibition, wax modelling and asphaltene prediction

  • Flaretot simulation software offers an unequalled, comprehensive and rigorous approach to the modelling of flare systems

  • Maximus is a steady state pipeline network simulator, allowing for integrated thermal and hydraulic production modelling over life of field

This suite of software for the hydrocarbon industry is unsurpassed in its capability to model the complex processes and interactions from upstream facilities through to midstream processing plants.

 

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • The management of the day to day workload of the Software Support desk in Europe

  • Ensure the software and helpdesk support are delivered in a timeline fashion to the highest quality and that client satisfaction is guaranteed

  • Work alongside the Regional Software Support Lead in Europe to build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients ensuring their modelling needs are met and to grow the Software business upstream and downstream in Europe, Russia and Middle East

The post holder will be required to work as part of a team- both within the location and remotely. The successful candidate will have a willingness to travel as and when required – mainly on an international basis (with some domestic travel). Approximately 20- 30% of the time.

 

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Main support contact for internal and external clients
    • Provide customer support and  service via email, phone and in person
    • Maintain client satisfaction by ensuring client’s needs and expectations are met with respect to KBC software and communicate issues where necessary to appropriate  group(s)
    • Client liaison discussion of technical aspects of work
  • Sales and Marketing Support:
    • Support technical sales by conducting demonstrations of the software and answer technical questions as part of the sales process
    • Monitor software trials with potential customers
    • Identify/ communicate/ follow-up realistic potential sales opportunities
    • Provide support to KBC marketing events
    • Represent Company at industry conferences and present papers
  • Project Related:
    • Analyze data, execute and review process calculations
    • Perform process simulations including, but not limited to model calibration
    • Implement simulation solutions at client sites – deliver monitoring systems, operational models
    • Prepare materials for and conduct training sessions on the software both internally and for clients
    • Promote KBC upstream simulation within KBC hosting presentations and information sessions
  • Development:
    • Participate in software testing and provide feedback
    • Assist with documentation and demo case development
    • Identify and report issues or areas needing improvement
  • Technical Support:
    • Assist clients and KBC’s consultant staff in using the product, troubleshooting problems, assisting in model setup, and assisting with installation and licensing

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of BS or MS degree in Petroleum/Chemical Engineering (PhD welcomed) or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Previous experience in a similar role and able to demonstrate skill set
  • Dynamics simulation experience and familiarity with Multi Flash and Maximus packages
  • Knowledge of upstream processes and/ or refining processes with experience in modelling
  • Operational experience is an advantage
  • Familiar with and able to use standard simulation and flow assurances packages
  • Familiarity with one or more additional KBC software products is a distinct advantage
  • Familiarity with PVT fluid characterization, hydrate prediction/inhibition, flow assurance, hydraulic analysis with third party software (such as OLGA, PIPESIM and PIPESYS) and flare system modelling is also preferred. 
  • Ability to work as a team member in complex technology areas
  • Ability to lead manage a complex workload and a team of professional engineers 
  • Previous experience of working in a client facing role and proactively managing client relationships
  • Experience working in a global organization and with different cultures is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent influencing skills
  • Flexible with the ability to prioritize and reprioritize due to conflicting demands
  • High level of self-motivation and initiative
  • Able to deliver presentations to stakeholders within and outside of KBC
  • Professional attitude and projection of professional company image
