KBC is a technology-based consulting company in the energy and chemical industries.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in energy and sustainability to join our Energy Consulting team.
The successful candidate will help drive includes Energy Performance Improvement Studies, Energy Transition, Decarbonization, Profit Improvement Programs, Strategic Analysis, Operational Excellence, Process trouble shooting and Plant optimisation.
This role requires a strong understanding of energy and decarbonization solutions. A good base level understanding of steam and power systems, process energy saving potential is also required. Knowledge of process simulation tools, such as Petro-SIM and other platforms, is advantageous. Direct experience with energy optimisation tools and pinch analysis is highly valued.
The Energy Consultant may get involved in energy transition and/or decarbonization projects. These projects range from board room strategic advisory to developing detailed roadmaps that include renewables, bio-fuels, green- and blue hydrogen or ammonia as energy carrier, electrification and other projects that will help our clients to become net zero energy companies.
It will also be advantageous to have knowledge and experience of enabling technologies from KBC and Yokogawa required for Digital Transformation such as: Digital Twins based on Process Simulation; Machine Learning and other Artificial Intelligence technologies; Data Science and Visualisation of Process Data.
The postholder will be required to work as part of a team- both within the location and remotely. The successful candidate will have a willingness to travel as and when required mainly on an international basis (with some domestic travel) on a domestic and international basis, approximately 30% of travel time.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:
Sets/updates the project targets reflecting commitments of the contract in conjunction with Business Line Management Establish Project Plan. Employs KBC’s established methods and tools, adapted for the specific site’s needs Defines resourcing requirements and work to be done by the individual team members within projects as project manager. Ability to lead projects (less than $100K). Communicates with client at working level to ensure streamlined execution, that client is clear about what has and is going to be done Reviews progress/plans/actions with the Consulting Delivery Team Lead Manage key client stakeholders across all levels of the organization and reports progress formally to the client Simulation modelling and evaluation of utility systems (steam, fuel, and power) and pinch techniques. Technical and economic analysis of energy improvement and energy transition opportunities. Prepares the KBC in-house data for financial reporting of project performance Evaluation and Lead of Energy/ Profit Improvement opportunities includes:
Data collection and analysis
Process calculations
Client liaison and discussion of process operations
Client presentations
Responsible for/contributes to preparation of reports for clients
Assistance in proposal preparation/sales visits
Input to Technology Software Development
Assists with client sales visits and proposal technical preparation as required Work with the KBC Global Energy and Sustainability Teams to strategize on future sustainability, decarbonization and energy solutions and technologies.
Position Requirements:
BEng/ MEng in Chemical/ Process engineering is required or more than 7 years of equivalent experience Experience of base level refinery operations and refinery economics is essential Agile Project methodology experience would be advantageous. An area of expertise such as Energy and Utilities, Fractionation, Hydroprocessing, Fluidised Catalytic Cracking, Aromatics, Olefins, Polymers or Petrochemicals would be advantageous. Knowledge of simulation tools such as Petro-SIM (HYSYS) would be advantageous. Demonstration of high quality of technical ability Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines within budget and achievement of planned margins Proven ability in managing a team with strong evidence of leadership and mentoring skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (excellent English skills, both written and oral) and the ability to deal with colleagues and clients professionally. Develop and maintain good relationships with clients. Ability to work well in team environment under supervision and willingness to assist others Display a high level of professionalism towards colleagues and as an ambassador of the company Must be a self-starter that demonstrates a flexible approach Based in Singapore with up to 30% of travel time.
