Main Aspects of Job:

Working closely with the Group Financial Controller (GFC), Regional Finance Managers, Commercial Services, Human Resources and Payroll groups, the postholder will be responsible for all tax related matters for the sub-group and support to the larger global tax group of an overseas listed entity.


As part of this role, the post holder will also be required to travel to both international and domestic locations as necessary to achieve the objectives of the role.


Main Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implementation and communication of tax projects and support the business to deliver tax efficient business development, operational and restructuring projects
  • Monitor changes to the Group’s transfer pricing risks and exposures and undertake documentation, planning and management of all Group tax risks and exposures
  • Managing Group tax exposure and risks, including Permanent Establishment risk, ensure compliance with tax laws and the minimization of fines for non-compliance
  • Preparation and submission of UK and associated non-resident tax filings including Controlled Foreign Companies disclosures, together with oversight of all other group corporate tax compliance and tax cycles
  • Providing input and support to YHQ Global Tax for its Country-by-Country Reporting (CBCR) obligations and responsibility for CBCR notification requirements in countries which have a statutory notification requirement for CBCR purposes
  • Managing outsourced tax compliance relationships and all tax queries, investigations and audits
  • Deliver IFRS tax disclosure requirements in the consolidated and subsidiary company financial statements including accounting for income taxes, sales taxes, including accruals and reconciliations, current and deferred income taxes. Assist the GFC with quarterly and annual group reporting requirements
  • Managing the analysis of tax implications of proposed corporate acquisitions and tax efficient structuring, and coordinating and interpreting data from finance, legal, tax and commercial sources
  • Developing a planning and annual forecasting framework for the KBC Group to facilitate effective  tax management; both reported and cash
  • Assist with the management of employee taxes for expatriate staff; staff resourcing on complex projects and manage the minimization of employee related tax expenses
  • Input into relevant tax governance including Corporate Criminal Offence (CCO) and processes and controls relating to tax
  • Annual review of published tax strategy to ensure KBC are compliant
  • Management of Research and Development Expenditure Credit (RDEC) claim
  • Monitor and escalate potentially significant taxation risks to the Chief Financial Officer

Position Requirements:

  • Experience of international tax matters of a multi-national enterprise (MNE)
  • Previous experience with key tax judgments for software and services businesses is desirable
  • Experience with global, regional and project-specific tax planning
  • Familiarity with employment and mobility tax planning
  • Experience with tax Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and/or restructuring projects
  • Qualified tax accountant ACA/CTA, or equivalent
  • Practice/ Industry experience post qualification. Relevant industry experience preferred, but not essential
  • Advanced Excel skills desirable
  • Detail-oriented and ability to deliver to tight deadlines
  • Excellent analytical skills and communication skills, particularly the ability to explain complex tax matters to a non-tax audience
  • Pro-active approach and ability to work and think independently
  • Commercially minded with a bigger picture mindset
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and willingness to assist others
  • Flexible with the ability to prioritize and reprioritize due to conflicting demands
  • High level of self-motivation and initiative
  • Able to deliver presentations to senior stakeholders within and outside of KBC
  • Display a high level of professionalism towards colleagues and to act as an ambassador of the Company
